The Province Of Manitoba's
Shameless Tax Grab

(Based On A True Story)

Preface

This is the sad story about how Manitoba citizens everyday experience disappointment and financial setback after their joyfull experience of purchasing their dream home. Saving and scrimping for their first home, our heroes finally make the purchase of their lifetime. Although concerned about the large financial outlay (the house cost $300,000), they make the purchase knowing they have some savings to assist in the additional expenses of their new home.

Did they forget about Manitoba's Land Transfer Tax? Well how much can it cost to register a new owner at The Property Registry? It is done electronically, isn't it? How much? $3,650.00 !! (sob)
